Food & Grocery Delivery

Food & Grocery Delivery

Max Delivery
Max Delivery works with wholesalers to offer a selection of items at comparable rates to your local grocery store. Max aims to get food to your doorstep within an hour of ordering.  They only service certain areas of Manhattan, so check to make sure your zip code is included. There’s a $5.95 delivery fee for most orders. There is free shipping for orders over $125.

H Fresh
Longtime Korean grocer H Mart offers doorstep delivery to 148 Manhattan zip codes (and a handful of North Jersey neighborhoods) with their grocery delivery service, H Fresh. There’s a $35 minimum on orders plus a $5.99 delivery fee, but if you get your cart above $49, shipping comes free. Toss on a few moisturizing face masks to go with your market supplies and look out for the shipment as soon as one day later. Deliveries go out from 1-9pm on weekdays, and orders placed by 10am are eligible for next day arrival.

Mercato
Bring locally sourced food right to your kitchen with Mercato’s efficient same-day delivery service. They partner with NYC’s best independent grocers, like Essex Market, Sarge’s Deli, Kalustyan’s, Ceriello Fine Foods, Eli Zabar, and all four of Sunrise Mart’s locations. The fees for delivery run a little higher than some other grocery services, but if you schedule the drop-off at an off-peak time, they’ll charge you a little less.

Fresh Direct

New York's original grocery delivery service. In addition to groceries, you can order wine and meal kits and they have kosher and locally grown options. Slots are a premium so you not have much luck with a last-minute order. You can see available slots before ordering which is useful. There is a $30 minimum and a $5.99 delivery fee.

Instacart

Instacart partners with grocery stores in your neighborhood to bring nearby goods right to you, including NYC’s best Italian fare from Eataly and kitchen staples from Wegmans in Brooklyn. There are generally delivery fees, service fees, and busy pricing fees during peak hours -- so when there’s a high demand like now, the costs can add up. But if you’re planning to become a regular shopper, you can join Instacart Express for an individualized annual cost or low monthly payment and dramatically lower those additional charges -- that means free delivery on orders over $35, reduced service fees, and no added costs during peak delivery hours.

Farm to People
The name summarizes the mission: Farm to People guarantees fresh and ethically sourced foods in a manner that more corporate delivery services simply can’t compete with. Their seasonal produce boxes come in small ($25), medium ($35), and large ($45) sizes, each containing a rotating assortment of fresh fruits and veggies that are picked to order so that no food goes to waste. Customers can also order a la carte groceries that extend beyond produce and choose a delivery day that works best for their schedule. Orders over $50 come with free shipping, so don’t hold back.

Whole Foods
Amazon’s purchase of Whole Foods made the health-conscious grocery chain more accessible than ever for Prime members. Add produce and pantry items to your cart like you would any other Amazon item and choose a two-hour delivery window for them to be dropped off. Orders of $35 or more qualify for free delivery -- giving you a bigger budget for the tip -- and you can opt to let your shopper substitute items that are sold out. Whole Foods recently announced that for a limited time, they’ll be requiring new Whole Foods Prime shoppers to request an invite before they can place an order. As more slots become available, people on the Invite List will be contacted with an invitation to start shopping.

New York Grocery

This service aims to connect residents with neighborhood grocery stores for pick up or delivery

Wine and Spirits

Drizly

This service offers quick-and-easy delivery of beer, wine and spirits from local liquor stores around the city, usually in less than an hour. It won't cost you an arm and a leg either: Drizly never charges price mark-ups and many stores don’t charge delivery fees, although some do have a minimum order threshold. You can even schedule deliveries up to two weeks in advance, if you’re planning a party.

Minibar

Much like the other services on this list, Minibar works with local suppliers to deliver beer, wine and liquor to your home within an hour of your order. Minibar does offer a few fun extras that its competitors lack, such as an event planning calculator that helps you predict the type and amount of booze to buy for your party. You can even book a bartender to work an upcoming event!

Fresh Direct

Whether or not you already use NYC home delivery stalwart Fresh Direct, you’re bound to have heard of them. After all, they’ve been bringing groceries direct to the doors of New Yorkers for years. Adding a bottle or six-pack to your grocery order is a cinch with Fresh Direct or if all you want is the booze, use their sister app Foodkick, which has a minimum spend of $30 and offers alcohol-only runs if, say, you’re running short at a party.

Instacart

You're already ordering some chicken for that meal prep later this week, so you might as well throw in an order for a bottle of Chablis. More than a dozen retailers in NYC have partnered with Instacart and you can order from some of your favorite shops like Beekman Liquor.

Astor Wines

This Greenwich Village wine and liquor store has been a fixture in the community since it opened in 1946, so it’s only natural that the company took its business online after the dotcom boom. Orders over $150 ship for free to Manhattan or Brooklyn, but you have to meet a threshold of $199 to get free shipping elsewhere in New York state. You can even get same-day delivery in Manhattan below 125th street for a flat fee of $30 (up to four cases).

Delivery.com

This website and app aggregates stores that offer alcohol delivery from all over the city—last we checked, that included more than 70 different options. A handy label under each store reveals the delivery minimum and address. And it's not just for booze, either: Delivery.com also covers groceries, food and even laundry.

Swill

Swill matches up thirsty New Yorkers with nearby liquor stores for delivery (you'll be able to track your order). Wine, beer, spirits and mixers are all on offer—you can even order kegs if you schedule the delivery ahead of time and put down a small deposit and pay a pick-up fee.
